I really don’t have any little anecdotes for you today about this cake.
Basically, I saw it on the interwebs, thought it was pretty freaking awesome looking, and decided to make it. And now here we are.
Don’t you wish everything in life were that simple?
But maybe it is. Even though this cake looks a little crazy (in a cool way), it’s really quite simple.
First, make some vanilla cake batter. I cheated with a cake mix, but that’s okay. You’re not taking the easy way out. Do what you need to do to make it work. It’s going to turn out great.
Scoop out two cups of batter and add 3 tablespoons of cocoa powder. I used Hershey’s Special Dark.
Alternate plopping 2-3 tablespoons of each batter in the middle of a greased and floured cake pan. Once it’s sufficiently filled, jiggle it a little bit to even out the batter in the pan 🙂
Add a simple ganache, and you’re doing it right. (I used equal parts semisweet chocolate and heavy whipping cream. 8 oz of each came out to 1 1/3 cups chocolate and 1 cup cream)
Zebra. Waayy cooler than marble.
But you aren’t so bad yourselves, little marble cupcakes.
A little crazy, but always wonderful. Such is life (and this cake).
These are so pretty– and look yummy!!!
thank you!!!
This looks delicious! Ganache frosting is my favorite.
thanks maggie 🙂 ganache is my favorite too! i’m a sucker for dark chocolate!
